Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team knows exactly where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the secret base, striking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the team access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to head to the remote area in search of the traitor.
